In light of the recent scrutiny Facebook is taking for abusing users’ data and passing it across to third parties without clear notices, I had an argument with a friend about the use of other social platforms, mainly “Telegram”, since they claim to not store our data. This argument is seconded by similar ones from social apps like “What’s App” that claim that all the messages are encrypted and as such secure (1).
Research and studies in the growth of machine learning market show promising growth rates that averages at 20% annually to reach nearly $16+ billion by 2019. This does not necessary mean that businesses must leverage the technology. But it does mean they need to find ways to be current in how they provide marketing services, mainly for agencies trying to compete.
I have been reading, as many of you would be probably, a lot about the applications of AI and how artificial intelligence and machine learning is evolving to be or feel like us humans and I could not help but wonder if that would be a good thing as many other aspects seem to be, so far and generally, accepted as the norm. I am referring to the news about the citizenship given to the AI robot named #Sophia !
I have recently upgraded my Surface Windows 10 to the Windows 10 Creators Update. As it stabilises, I have been experiencing issues with my McAfee anti-virus security package. It kept getting disabled as the updates ran. Apparently it was a common issue as many reported their anti-virus packages not running on startup. This got me thinking; if I wasn’t someone with a tech background would I have noticed or even flagged it as I have done so as part of the feedback to Microsoft?!
Everyone likes a good prediction ! A while back, I have written a blog piece about levelling the playing field, in which I have suggested Twitter would either up their game or get ready to be conquered by Microsoft or Google; so I guess they have upped their game ! but for how long !
I read a lot of books about self-improvements, being positive, life lessons, and emotional intelligence EQ. I guess this does come from some sort of self-consciousness where I am trying to project a certain behaviour that with proper study and training might just come natural and I reach my objective of being that person who people would say “she takes things easy” and “she is always smiling”.
A couple of years back I have written an article asking the question: Why aren’t we socially active?! My response back then was mainly about the use of the tools that make it easy for us to be notified, read, and eventually share. Meaning the mobile apps !
However, my intake today is that social is different when it comes to being social from a business perspective. Yes, it is about sharing, but seeing an update from a friend and sharing a comment is one thing, and responding to a feedback about your products or services from a customer is another.
